Stromboli

Another Sunday Funday recipe, Stromboli! And this one is so easy and quick, you’ll want to add it to your next Sunday Funday line ASAP!

All you need: Pizza Dough, cheese (I used sliced mozzarella and shredded parmesan), Italian lunch meat (I get this great variety pack from Aldis) and I added pepperoni, seasonings and pizza sauce.

First preheat the oven to 425. Then roll out the pizza dough to a nice sized rectangle. I use flour to avoid sticking. Once the dough is rolled out I top with EVOO, salt, pepper, oregano, basil, light sauce, parsley and parmesan. I used all dried herbs, but use fresh herbs if you have the on hand! Next I layer the meats and cheese. I try not to add too much cheese so it doesn’t burst open and melt every (but it is harder than you think!). You can was as much or as little as you desire. But we do not like our Stromboli too doughy, so I used almost the whole pack of meats.

I topped it with pepper, basil and parmesan. Then I rolled it up and placed it on my pizza pan. I added a few slits in the dough, to avoid the cheese from getting everywhere. Lastly I baked it about 15-20 minutes, until the top was nice and golden and the cheese was melty. For the last few minutes, I put a ramekin of pizza sauce in the oven to warm up. Once you take it out, let it rest for a few minutes before cutting it and enjoying! We like to dip our pieces in the pizza sauce.
