Homemade Skillet Granola

I love granola with cereal, oatmeal and yogurt. So I thought I would try and make my own using my cast iron skillet! It was a quick and easy recipe and you can make it your own with whatever ingredients you have or want?

Here are the ingredients I use:
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 4 tbsp. butter
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • ¼ cup chopped almonds
  • 2 tsp. flax seeds
  • 2 tsp chia seeds

I start by preheating the oven to 350. Then in my skillet over medium low heat I had all ingredients. I stirred and combined all ingredients. Once the oven has heated, I placed the whole skillet in for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes I gave it a stir and a taste. I placed it back in for another 5 minutes or so and added a bit more honey. I recommend tasting it and keeping it to your preference. I wanted it a bit sweeter so added more honey. If you like your granola crunchier then place it back in the oven for another 10 minutes. Other ingredients you can add (but I did not have on hand) dried berries/raisins or other nuts. Use the ingredients you like or have on hand and make it your own! This made about 2-3 cups of granola. I didn’t wan’t to make too much because I wasn’t sure how it would turn out/how long it would keep. I keep it stored in an air tight container.

It turned out pretty good; I give it a 8/10! It goes great with yogurt and ice cream! Have you made your own granola before? I’d love to hear your recipe – comment below!
