Last year we learned that on the Marine Corps. Birthday, Marines have steak and lobster. This year to celebrate we tried Joey Chops. I don’t even know where to begin, but I will say I need to go back!
Ambiance/Atmosphere: I would describe Joey Chops as a modern tavern with a fine dining twist. We sat on the bar side that had a large bar and high tops. It was a Sunday, so football was on the TV. We went on a Sunday evening, and it was fairly quiet which made for a great dinner atmosphere! They also have an outside patio with a bar that will make a great spot for happy hour or a get together in the warmer months! The staff were also friendly, very attentive, and took all the leftovers to be packed and bagged! It was top notch service.

Drinks: It was happy hour when we arrived, so I took advantage of the drink special for the house cocktails and ordered the strawberry lemon drop. It was fresh ingredients and fruity! It was a good sipper and kind of made me wish it was summer and warmer weather lol. Later in the night, with dessert, I opted to try the espresso martini. Another great sipper, but this one was much stronger! It paired perfectly with dessert! I would order both again!

Menu: Since it was happy hour, we had to sample some bites that coworkers raved about. This included the wagyu slider and lollipop lamb chop. Both were seasoned perfectly and very tender bites. I love that you can order by the one, and it allows you sample more of their food. We went for steak and lobster so it was hard to not fill up on more bites, but you best believe that I will be making my way back to happy hour! Plus you also get their homemade focaccia bread with a roasted tomato garlic dipping sauce. It was so good and the bread was so fresh and very hard to not eat it all and fill up on it before dinner LOL.

Their menu is not big, but it is one of those places that you just want to try everything. But again, staying on task, steak was the main. They have several different cuts to select from and I decided to order the NY strip. This place was much like the Hawke, where the steak is the star, but they have sides available. But even those were hard to narrow down. For the table, we ordered, mashed potatoes, asparagus, the mushrooms (because you know I have to!) and lobster mac and cheese. Which I opted for instead of the lobster tail. First presentation gets a 10/10. The steak was cooked to perfection and gets a 10/10. Portions, get a 10/10 we definitely over ordered the sides. However, there was plenty of leftovers to enjoy with the rest of the steak that couldn’t be finished. Though on the pricier side, it was worth it for everything and enjoying the meal yet again. I wasn’t going to order dessert, but I did ask to see the menu. They had a chocolate cake that I couldn’t resist. They called it a skyscraper cake with raspberries, and it did not disappoint either as there were many layers and it stood high! As I mentioned earlier, it did also pair well with the espresso martini. This couldn’t be finished either, but the leftovers were taken, and it was enjoyed with coffee! Tips/Recommendations: This is a must try spot! If you are going for dinner, I suggest you make a reservation to be on the safe side. I only sampled the happy hour menu and I cannot wait to go back. So I think happy hour is a great way to give it a try. If you go for dinner, the steak and mushrooms are the must order items. However, I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on their menu. And as always, try something new every time you go.
