Birthday celebrations for Dad and we ended up at Blue Bird Inn in Cornwall. Click here for the insta-reel of the yummy pics!
Ambiance/Atmosphere: This was my first time here and it gave a tavern/inn vibe. Historical looking brick building. They had a large patio with an outside bar, several dinning sections (some you could rent for personal parties) as well as a large bar and fireplace. We opted to sit at the bar which made for a fun experience watching the bartenders at work. They were very friendly, and we were there during live music, so it was the perfect Saturday afternoon vibe!
Drinks: They had a wide variety of drinks, beers, specials and more. I wanted to go the beer route and decided to try a local sour from Rotunda (Annville, PA). Plus, it was a passionfruit margarita flavored sour, so how do you say no! It was delicious combination of fruit, tart and sweet. It was a bit heavy though, and I didn’t want to drink more of that kind. So second round I went closer to home, ordering and Lancaster Brewing Co shandy. It was fun served with blueberries. It was a fun refreshing citrus beer. Lighter and paired well with fried foods LOL. After sitting at the bar and watching the bartenders make all the drinks, mom and I were convinced we needed to try a cocktail (plus it was happy hour so cocktails were ½ priced). I went with the lack berry gin and tonic. It was the perfect blend of fresh berries, but it was strong and a delicious drink to end the meal!
Menu: The menu was pretty big and a bit overwhelming. We had arrived before happy hour, so we opted to order a sandwich to share. Looking at the options, I was immediately sold on the Lebanon bologna cheesesteak. If you know me, then you know my love for Lebanon bologna and in cheesesteak form I was sold! Fried Lebanon bologna, with onions and a beer mustard on a roll with cooper sharp cheese. It was a delicious PA bite! We ordered it with fries, which paired so well. It was a fun twist on the Philly sandwich!
During happy hour, appetizers are half priced. So up next, we ordered the mussels, cheese curds and wings. The mussels were a large plate in a nice butter sauce and crusty bread. They were pretty good. The cheese curds were lightly bread and crispy. They were served with a marinara sauce and were a delicious small bite! The wings we ordered naked with the sauce on the side. Again, another crispy finger food. They were decently sized and I would definitely order them again (especially during happy hour!).
Tips/Recommendations: Add to your list to try and I highly recommend happy hour. Also check the specials before because they do have burger night, wing night etc. You may also want to check the menu ahead of time so you get some ideas of ordering because there are a lot of options. I do recommend the cheese curds and wings. Unless you love Lebanon bologna like me, it is not necessary to order that cheesesteak LOL. The cocktails are crafted and delicious – so I say order something fun. And as always, try something new every time you go.
