The second half of the year was just as fun as the first half!
Box #7 was from Thailand. I was very excited for this one as some of the yums I have had similar eats and I knew they would be delicious! I had to start with the tempura seaweed snacks. I love snacking on seaweed and having it tempura was even crispier! It was chicken larb flavor a common Thai salad. It was a great salty and seasoned bite! You get the fish sauce and lime first but then a end of some spice! They were gone pretty quickly LOL. I did enjoy the other seaweed roll snack. It was super crunchy and the BBQ flavor smokey but sweet. The sweet and salt wheat sweet potato snack was another fun bite. They reminded me of honeycomb cereal because they have honey coating and the shape themselves. The only different is the hint of spice/pepper feeling. The Thai chili chips were a hard no – way too spicy! LOL There were more coconut sweet treats in this box and they were not my favorite. But the cookie filled with chocolate and caramel was a fun and yummy sweet bite! They had a wannabe Oreo that was not an Oreo. They were okay, but I am not a fan. My favorite sweet yum was the sour gummy spaghetti! It was a fun treat that was perfectly sour and sweet! Grandma liked them too!
Box #8 was from the UK. If you had asked me before receiving this box, how has it been and which one is my favorite. Then I would have said all the boxes have been great. Some good bites, not so good ones, and a fun experience. But I would say Thailand is my favorite. If you ask me now, UK was probably the most disappointing box so far. There wasn’t much wow factors and the snack just seemed to be below average/not impressive. The sweet treats were not that good. I would have to say the shortbread cookies were the best. But it’s hard to mess them up LOL. My favorite savory treat were the chips. They were very crunchy, and the lamb flavored ones were by far the most interesting. I love how you felt like you were eating a roast dinner by just eating one chip! Overall, I don’t think I would jump at the chance of eating snack from the UK. By the end of the box, I was ready to see where Box 8 was coming from LOL.
Box #9 was from India. I thought the UK was blah, but India was just bad LOL. There was maybe one or two yums I actually enjoyed. I spit yums out for the first time. They just were not enjoyable. I don’t event want to eleborate on them, as it’s just not worth it. LOL
Box #10 was from Africa. I was excited to be done with India. However, Africa was not that much better. I felt like most of the items lack flavor and just were not that enjoyable. There was probably only one snack that I would eat again and recommend – the caramel pistachio popcorn. But there was so little in the bag, it was almost like a tease. Other than those, I have no desire to eat any more snacks from Africa lol.
Box #11 was South Korea. This one was my favorite to date! There were so many of them I loved, I don’t really think there was one I didn’t like. The seaweed snacks were one of my favorite savory yums. The gummies would be one of my favorite sweet yums. I think South Korea nailed the snack and yum game! After the last two boxes, this was the box we needed!
Box #12, my last box was from Italy. It was a kind of a bittersweet feeling coming to an end. I also was distracted from all the holiday and birthday festivities. So I was delayed in eating these LOL. They had more sweet yums than savory yums. Some of the sweet treats went well with coffee but were that amazing; other boxes were better! I really enjoyed the bruschetta crisps. They were my favorite savory yum. They were very garlic forward and a perfect crunch! Another box that made me want to explore the food of the country!
Overall, I had a great universal yum experience! I do recommend it to all! It makes for a great gift, and depending how long your subscription it is the gift that keeps giving! Maybe I come back to it another time to see what new countries and new yums there are! Until next!
