Updates

Time for some updates of older posts to places that are now my regular stops. After all, we need to try something new every time you go!

Let’s start with Stolen Sun -may have become regulars. But you can’t pass up the Wayback Wednesday specials plus some of their fun events. Wednesday specials include $3 tacos and half price wings and some sandwiches. Some of my favorite tacos I recommend: Mojo Chicken, Taco Supreme and the Willie Pork taco. The smoked meat is tender, flavorful, and delicious. They also offer a munchies taco which is a Nashville hot chicken strip with mac and cheese. It’s a fun combination in a taco form. But it’s an every one and a while order. I love the quick bite tacos. I also like to mix it up and order their wings. They are smoked that flash fried for an added crisp. The sriracha honey is my favorite. It is a sweet and spicy combination that goes great on wings. The wings are very tender with a smoky taste but the flash fry really does give the a crispy bite!  I have had the Nashville hot fried chicken sandwich as well. Though delicious and crispy, it was wayyy to hot. Almost to the point that it is no longer enjoyable. So I can’t see me ordering it again any time soon or even recommending it haha.

Since I loved the Mojo chicken taco so much, I needed to try the other items: wrap and chicken cheesesteak. Both are delicious and I can see ordering them again. The wrap is a refreshing lighter option. I love the combination of chicken with lettuce, tomato, and avocado. Though a lighter option, pair with fries I still found it to be filling. I loved the cheesesteak. It was a delicious surprise. It came with cheese, mushrooms and honey mustard. It was a delicious bite and I enjoyed it more than the taco and wrap! It will definitely be a reorder!

Now, let’s highlight some other events that may interest you in checking out Stolen! First: live music. They have a variety of musicians and bands through the week and weekends. But they also have open mic nights. Gameboard night is also an event that happens multiple times a month. Keep an eye on the social for special events coming up as well. But now in addition to the events, they now have two pinball machines for guests to enjoy. One South Park and one Godzilla. I have only paid Godzilla, but it was fun, entertaining and I felt like the graphics/lights were top notch! Makes for a great afternoon of good food, beer and games!

Overall I keep Stolen Sun at a 9.5/10 and a highly recommend!

Up next is Ron’s and it has been another regular stop of mine. Their happy hour is awesome plus they have live music! Also I have sampled more of the menu and I cannot mention one item that was bad and you shouldn’t try! I still standby by their ovals as a must order. Especially when they are ½ off during happy hour. I have since tried many more of their options. They are all honestly delicious and you cannot go wrong either way. But if I had to pick a top three they would be: buffalo chicken, sausage and pepperoncini and the CBR. Their steam clams are also delicious. Fresh and buttery! I love their crinkle fries aka the famous fries. And you MUST order them with the garlic dip. You will not be disappointed. I now ask for a side of this every time I order fries LOL.

The have week night specials and weekend specials. I went over St. Patrick’s Day and they had a Sheppard’s pie that was so good! It was a large portion, but the meat blend and mashed potatoes were cooked perfectly and pair so well together. They also had fish and chips. It was one of the better fish and chips I have had as well. I asked for the garlic dip on the side of course. But they also served it with tartar sauce. The fish was fresh and very crispy. I love that they used smaller pieces. It was lightly battered with a beer batter. It was the perfect St. Patty’s day treat!

One item I haven’t tried, that I must the next time I go – is there pasta. I keep reading and seeing it that I need to just select one kind and try it!  I would say that this is still a must try, highly recommend place! And it stays at a 9.5/10 and a highly recommend!

Time to highlight some more vendors at the Lancaster County Market! Sunnyside offers donuts and a wide variety of pastries. I love that that they offer mini donuts, cookies, mini pies and more. The donuts are not the best, but it is fun to be able to order multiple mini donuts to taste and feel a bit guilt free LOL. Last time around, mom and I decided to try their cookies specifically the monster cookie. Which is oatmeal peanut butter with M & M’s. It was not too sweet and the perfect balance of oatmeal and peanut butter. They also paired very well with coffee! I would get these again and maybe venture to other kinds that Sunnyside offers.

We also have finally tried Angelo’s café. Again, prices are on the higher side. But I would say comparable to going out for breakfast at a dinner. We had to try a variety of items to get a full taste of their menu. We order French toast, made with cinnamon raisin bread, side of bacon and a breakfast burrito with a side of hashbrowns. The French toast was flavorful and moist. Eating it with butter and syrup sent it over the top but it was so good that it didn’t really need it. The bacon was salty and crispy. The way you want bacon. I loved the burrito. The sausage and veggie combination paired perfectly with the cheese. It felt like it was fresh ingredients straight from the market! It came with sides of sour cream and salsa that just completed the burrito bite for me! The potatoes were a shredded hashbrown. It was not my favorite as I feel they can be crispier. But they did make for a great side! I would go back and order food from them again. However, Country twist is still may favorite stop!

Up next is La Cabra. To go with the theme here, this is another regular stop. Not far, good food and beer! I have been back so many more times since my last review. Wings were my go to happy hour order. They were delicious, crispy and flavorful parmesan garlic plus the happy hour special. Exciting that they are now open during the week for lunch, but sad that it did change their happy hour specials a bit. Wings are no longer an option, but they haven’t left the menu. Other items that you want to try is anything brisket! The brisket dip sandwich is delicious. I love the bread and dip combination.  I also love the freshness of the side salad that is served with it! I also order the brisket over the mac and cheese – another slam item and I would say a must order. The mac and cheese is creamy and a delicious blend of cheeses that just melt in your mouth each bite! I have also order their smash burgers. It’s a brisket blend and boy is it delicious. I love the cooper sharp cheese topping. It was a perfect burger bite that I would order again and again.

Their menu does keep changing and they do offer specials, mostly on the weekend. I recommend following their social media to see the latest additions or specials. I love that they participate in other events, and run specials during sport events. I also love going to sit at the bar during live music. They really have it all and give a great neighborhood family vibe.

I am bumping them to a 9/10 and to a highly recommend!

Last one to update (this time around) is City Works. I feel like their menu changed since I have been there the last time so let’s highlight some other items! They still have a nice large draft list, which I actually felt that the list was bigger lol. I love that they have rotating and seasonal selections. I am sad to say that the filet sliders were no longer an option on the menu because they were BOMB. However, it did have me try something new – since that is what we are all about! For starters we ordered the kung pao cauliflower and the spicy shrimp. Both spicy and flavorful in different ways. I love the crispiness yet very fresh shrimp! The cauliflower was tender and a full flavor bomb with each bite. I would recommend both! For the main bite, I was between tacos or a sandwich or pasta. My server recommended the Tex Mex mac and cheese, she did not steer me wrong. Another great combination of creamy cheeses with a spicy chorizo. They pair and balanced the bites so perfectly. I also love that they use cavatappi noodles because I think they elevate the mac and cheese feel as well as make for a fun bite!

Even without the beloved filet sliders, I will still keep them at a 10/10 and a highly recommend. You cannot beat the long draft list and the rest of the food on the menu does not disappoint!

Until next time… Live to Eat,
Tiv
