I’ve been wanting baked ziti, but did want to wait and go through the whole making process lol. So I thought I would try a crock pot version so it would cook while I was at work and be ready to enjoy! I was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out, because how easy it was to put together! LOL
Here is what you need: two 24oz jars red sauce (I made my own it was about 6 cups), 16oz. ziti, 15oz. ricotta, 2-4 cups shredded mozzarella, ½-1 cup parmesan, 2 eggs, Italian seasoning and ground pork (optional).
I started by browning the pork in a pan. I seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder. Then in a bowl, I combined the ricotta, 1 cup mozzarella, ½ cup parmesan, 2 eggs and Italian seasoning.

Next spray the crock pot with cooking spray. Add 1 jar (3 cups) of sauce and top with some mozzarella on top. Then half of the ziti (uncooked) and top with dollops of the ricotta and half of the ground pork. Then add the second jar of sauce more mozzarella, the rest of the ziti, ricotta and pork .I gave it all a stir making sure that all the noodles were covered with sauce and it was mixed all together. I topped everything with more mozzarella and parmesan. I set my crock pot to low (10 hrs. setting) and let it work it’s magic.

My edges were surprisingly crispy as if I baked it, but also maybe because I didn’t measure cheese LOL. The noodles were a tad softer/overcooked than I would have hoped, but it didn’t take away from the dish whatsoever. It was an easy and very delicious crock pot recipe that I see being repeated again in the future!
What crockpot recipe should I try next?
