Farmer’s Markets (Wayne and Berwyn, PA)

I love a fun market/farmers market! I had been to Lancaster County Farmer’s Market in Wayne several times and Berwyn now has added their own farmer’s market this past spring – so let’s highlight them both as I have visited both fairly recently!

Lancaster County Farmer’s Market: This farmer’s market has a variety of stands from produce, pastries, a breakfast café, Margaret Kuo’s, Country Twist, BBQ stand, S Clyde Weavers and more! Here are my top choices that I frequent. First Main Line Coffee Roasters. This coffee stand has fresh coffee brewing, lattes, cappuccinos and more. They also offer a wide variety of coffee beans. I love stopping here first for coffee to walk around with in the market. Plus it’s towards the back, so you can scope out some of your stand options on your way there. The produce stands typically have a variety of fresh options. But know, this is not like your farm stand in Lancaster or Amish country. This is a market on the main line and some items are a bit pricier LOL. Angelo’s café is tucked in the back corner with some table/counter seating. They have always seem to have a line and full tables of what looks to be very delicious food. This is on my list to try because it always smells delicious, and a nice hot breakfast sounds like a good idea. If they look busy, fear not they do take and there are additional tables in the front of the market.

The last place to highlight is Country Twist. Being from Lancaster, you know I love a good hand rolled soft pretzel. They always have fun varieties, specials and even breakfast ones (probably why I have never tried Angelo’s café yet LOL). I love the traditional pretzel, or the pretzel dogs. But they have hot pocket like ones that have bacon, egg and cheese and sausage, egg and cheese. Both were delicious, but I thought the bacon was a better combination with the outer soft pretzel. During the Phillies playoff run, they offered the Philly Dilly. Now, if you like dill pickles like mom and I, then this was a must try. They didn’t have any prepared when we arrived, but we were able to order them. Then walk around the market. They take a full dill pickle and wrap it in pretzel dough. You can get ranch on the side, but we did not. I think that it would be delicious with it, and also help balance how hot the pickle was lol. Anyways, it was so good. It was like a fried pickle, but not crunch instead wrap in a salt soft pretzel. I give it a 9/10! It was very hot though. The juice from the pickle on the inside will burn your tongue if you are not careful. But still 100% worth it. Overall it’s a great farmer’s market to check out.  They are only open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday’s 6am-4pm. So plan your trip accordingly. Fun fact for you: My grandpa used to have a sub sandwich stand at this market back in the day. Such a fun feeling when you walk in the doors!

Berwyn Farmer’s Market: I have only been here once, but I need to make it a point to remember to go back! They have only started in May but have been able to extend it through December. I think it has become a huge hit and I can wait for it to come back in the spring! A variety vendors are this market, vary each week. They are great at putting out a schedule of vendors as well as pushing out on social media any updates. It’s small but they set up right outside Handel’s Ice Cream. So a soft pretzel from one stand and ice cream from Handel’s was needed for the sweet and salty combination. Fresh produce was also purchased (stay tuned from some yummy scallion recipes coming your way). As before, some of the prices are up there. I mean it is the main line. But it’s also great to support local! I can’t wait to check this out more often!
