Hi Friends! I know I have been MIA… I mean work and life really get in the way! LOL But here is to catching up with hopefully some more free time on all the fun bites and things in 2026! (and yes that is how far behind I am, so you know lots of good things soon!)
The first new try of 2026 was Stampede BBQ. This tavern serves Texas style BBQ and is a wood fire brewery!
Ambiance/Atmosphere: You order your food up front, and you pick it up when ready. You order drinks at the bar and they have self-serve water stations. There are no servers to your tables, but the staff a very welcoming and have great recommendations! I also loved the cabin feel the place gave with all the wood and fireplace!
Drinks: The woodfire brewery strives on tradition as they do not use electricity! The bartender was very knowledgeable and gave great descriptions. I decided to try the cider. It was not sweet and not very bubbly. It was a different sip, but interesting and fun to try. You will want to listen to descriptions carefully, so you know what you are getting into. I don’t think their craft brews are for everyone. But they do also have other spirts to order mixed drinks and such!
Menu: They have a variety of meats, sandwiches, platters, and sides. I decided to order the brisket platter. I ordered potato salad and mac and cheese as my side. A slice of Texas toast was also included! And of course I had to order a side of fries to taste. They also had malt vinegar for the fries! The brisket was tender and juicy. It ate well with their homemade BBQ sauce. The mac and cheese was average. It almost tasted like the frozen kind from the grocery store. The potato salad was a bit bland and was missing something. I think I would only order the French fries again. Overall it gest a 6/10. Honestly Old City BBQ set the bar pretty high for me, and that’s all I can keep thinking about. Tips/Recommendations: I do think it is worth a try. Just don’t go out of your way; go if you’re in the area. I do recommend the brisket. I think a sandwich with fries is the best way to go. They also had soft serve ice cream, that I think I will need to try next time. And as always, try something new every time you go!
