Root Down Brewing (Phoenixville, PA)

When in Phoenixville for a show at The Colonial (review coming soon), you must get a bite to eat beforehand. I have been to Bistro on Bridge, and it was delicious! While walking to the Bridge St. we stumbled upon Root Down Brewing with the doors wide open and inviting!

Ambiance/Atmosphere: The art is the first thing you notice when you walk through the door. It’s a very urban feel inside and lots of art displayed on the wall and pieces. They have more of an open room where they have events. That also has a screen for big games etc. We walked right up to the bar to have a seat. The bartender came right up to give a menu. Staff were super inviting and great to chat with!

Drinks: They have a full list of beers on draft, some canned varieties as well as cocktails. I decided to go with their sour on draft, Dance baby. It was a sour wheat ale with raspberry and lime. A perfectly tart sour with a hint of citrus and sweetness. I give it an 8.5/10 and recommend it to the sour lovers!

Menu: Their menu is a standard bar menu with apps, pizzas, sandwiches, and salads. I was seeing food coming out and it all looked good! I decided to go with pizza and the pickle pie was what spoke to me! It was a nice personal, about 12in., size. It was perfectly crispy and cheesy! The saltiness from the bacon pair perfectly with the sourness of the pickles! My only complaint was it is not as good once it gets cold LOL. So, you either need to eat fast, share it or take the rest as leftovers. The food was very delicious, and it made me want to try more!

Tips/Recommendations: I think it is a great stop for a beer in Phoenixville. But keep an eye out for their events. The food surprised me, so I definitely staying for a bite is worth it! I would recommend the pizza! And as always, try something new every time you go!
