Kings Tavern (Coatesville, PA)

I love trying out new spots, especially when you are in the mood for a good burger. This time around was Kings Tavern.

Ambiance/Atmosphere: This tavern is a vibe. Very regal and royal décor that makes you feel like you are dining during the renaissance. The bar is a large u-shaped with high top tables and then dining rooms with tables and booths. There is also a beautiful, covered patio for outdoor seating. The staff are very friendly and attentive.

Drinks: They a full bar, with daily specials and happy hour specials. I also love that they feature local and PA based beers! Since burgers were on my mind, beer was ordered. I went with Spring House (Shout out to good ole Lancaster!) Saucy Boy. It was a refreshing grapefruit shandy that was perfect on a summer afternoon. Their cocktails sound delicious, so I definitely need to come back and try more of their drink menu!

Menu: The menu is big. I was not expected to have so many choices. But first complementary house made chips and blue cheese were served. They were very crispy!. They had a house seasoning on the chips that was not overpowering but made a perfect pair with the creamy and very chunky blue cheese! The dressing tasted homemade as well! I enjoyed these while trying to decide what to order. The nice part was going during lunch when they have a lunch menu. I tried to focus on that and the special menu. Because you know my moto, “order the specials before they’re gone!” And that is exactly what I did. I went with the black and blue burger. Though it wasn’t cooked to my requested temperature, it was pretty good! It was topped with sauteed mushrooms, blue cheese chunks, crispy bacon, spring mix and tomatoes! Crispy onions were served on the side since it was too much to pile on without losing them all. They also tasted homemade, fresh onions that were both crunchy and salty. The burger was served with fries as well. They were crispy yet soft; the best French fry combination. The sautéed mushrooms were fresh and paired well with the cheese and beef. It was one of those messy and delicious burgers that you had to keep in your hands until you finish it! I feel like I only sampled so I need to go back and try more including the happy hour and daily specials!

Tips/Recommendations: Another place that is definitely worth the try. I say start off simple at lunch or during happy hour. I do think the burgers are a must order. And as always, try something new every time you go!
