Midway Grill (Thorndale, PA)

Last year I highlighted Harry’s and their hot dogs. Although, the original plan was to go to Midway for their hot dogs. But of course, they were closed so that is why I ended up at Harry’s. But this time around they were not, so here is the review and comparison with Harry’s!

Ambiance/Atmosphere: This small spot is located in the same strip mall as Kelly’s. They have some seating but mostly a takeout spot. It sticks to the tradition quick stop where you go up to the counter and order. The staff are super friendly and ready to make your order, even at a busy time. They have paper menus to take a look at the different options. If you want to eat in then they bring your order to your table of your choice when it’s ready. It was quick service and a great late lunch on a day that I got out of work early – wins all around!

Drinks: They have fountain sodas and a variety of bottle drinks as well. They a quick stop food place, so unlike Harry’s they do not have a bar/alcohol drinks. They weren’t missed, but all the more reason to order to go and enjoy with your beer at home!

Menu: I did look at the menu prior to going, but I was still overwhelmed with ordering LOL. I went for hot dogs, so I knew that is what was going to order,  but the question was what kind? I had to order the original so I could compare to Harry’s. But I wanted to change it up with my second selection. Jimmy John’s was also talked about this day (before deciding on Midway), so I did have their hot dog with the bacon and cheese on my mind LOL. So, dog number 2 was a hotdog with bacon and white American cheese and then of course an order of fries because we cannot forget they are necessity.

Let’s start with the bacon cheese dog: it was split in have and grilled on the flat top with a crispy piece of bacon and some American cheese. It was a delicious combination and something I would definitely order again.

The original is next, and much like Harry’s, it is not my first choice of toppings.  But it was delicious. I think taste wise it was pretty similar to Harry’s. Although, I would say Harry’s assembled it better to have all the toppings in each bite. (see the Harry’s picture to compare!) The meat and onions fell in the middle cut of the dog. Where this one did not so the bites were not evenly divided of all toppings. So I think it made the experience a bit different. Still a delicious dog, but I don’t think it will be my go to order. Harry’s dog was a 7.5/10 I would give this one a close 7/10. Their fries were delicious. I thought they were fresh, hot and perfectly crisp! I can’t compare them to the rodeo fries as they were just completely different, but I would definitely order Midway’s fries again.

Tips/Recommendations: Other than trying them out, I think we may need to do a side by side comparison of Harry’s and Midway to get a true review … maybe someday in the future. It’s a great quick stop for good food. They have other menu items for you to pick from. You can call ahead to order, or when you get there as the service is quick. They also offer delivery through door dash. I would recommend trying the original dog at least once, but don’t be afraid to be fancy. The bacon and cheese dog was delicious. Definitely order the fries but as always, try something new every time you go!
