Stottsville Inn (Coatsville, PA)

While out and about, Stottsville Inn became a little drink stop. So here is my mini review. A full review will need to come later when there is a full meal eaten LOL.

Ambiance/Atmosphere: This cute inn offers it all. I love that they tried to keep the original house as much as possible. It gives a great historical vibe. They have a dinner room, banquet room, bar and patio. You can still stay at the hotel as well! We sat at the bar, which was fairly busy for late afternoon crowd. We didn’t have the best service for sitting at the bar, but we won’t hold that completely against them I guess… I wait for the full review to make that decision LOL.

Drinks: They have a variety of draft beers, bottle beers, wine, cocktails and seasonal drinks! They had a sour on draft: Whale Song from Big Oyster Brewery in DE. I have had their beer before but not their sour. I was excited to taste it as it was a blend of blueberry and peach. It was light and had that fresh fruit flavor. I ended up liking more than I thought, so it is something I will keep in mind the next time in Delaware LOL. On their special menu was a martini flight that was super intriguing. I may need to order that if it is still an option the next time I come around LOL.

Menu: We did not have a meal, but they had a list of specials and we decided to order the steamed clam special. Now, this is where I need to get a bit particular. First it was served in a narrow deep bowl. Made it difficult to fish the clams, and most of them were not soaking in the butter sauce. Second, large chunks of stewed tomatoes were plopped on top. Not eye appealing nor good. I think smaller chunks in the sauce would have added the flavor and be more appealing. Lastly, I thought it was a bit salty. I will say my standards may be high. But these did not compare to Casey’s pour house what so ever. I would not order these again as I would give them a 5/10. However, while sitting at the bar I did browse their menu. Lots of options that sound so yummy, so I definitely need to come back and give this a full review! See their full menu here and see why I want to go back!

Tips/Recommendations: We arrived right before 4pm on a Saturday but within 10-15mins the bar filled up. If you plan to go for dinner, make a reservation. They have open mic nights as well as live music if you enjoy that. In the warmer weather/summers they have a great outdoor patio as well. I did enjoy sitting at the bar, so if you can make that happen then I say give that a try! And as always, try something new every time you go!
