Precarious Beer Project (Williamsburg, VA)

As I mentioned before, I had tagged some places prior to traveling. It just helps to narrow down options. I had all intentions to stop at the cheese shop while in colonial Williamsburg, but that afternoon, the line was out the door to order and you couldn’t even walk inside it was so crowded and busy. So we kept walking. We stumbled upon Precarious Beer Project, and I had completed forgotten that I had this place flagged. Though they were busy, we were able to find open spots at the bar so all was well!

Ambiance/Atmosphere: This fun zone of a place is similar to a Dave Busters in the sense that they have a full arcade of games. It was super busy on a holiday weekend. Sports were on the TV and all the games were in use. There were tables for small groups and long tables for bigger groups. It was a place for the whole family. Staff were very friendly, especially for them be under staff for how busy it was. They are a pub style place where you go to the bar to order your drinks. Inside there are two different food stands, separate from the bar but all a part of the full experience. It was a fun spot tucked in this historic town.

Drinks: They offered various bottle/cans of their beers and drinks. But they also have drafts beer and cocktails. After a chilly walking around the colonial streets, I ordered the cranberry orange margarita from the draft. It was the perfect balance of tart, yet sweet with that punch of tequila! I give it a 10/10. I was going to try one of their sours, but honestly, the margarita was so good that I just stuck with it.

Menu: So they have two different food option inside. One burger spot and another a taco spot. Our seats at the bar happened to be closer to the taco spot, but their menu also sounded better. It was called Electric Circus. I went up with the plan to order their wings. They looked so good when they came out but also many people were recommending them. I was very disappointed that they were out by the time I was up to order. So instead, I ordered tacos a la carte. One ground beef and one carnitas. The tacos were a good small bite. Nothing special that makes them my favorite, but nothing bad that I wouldn’t order them again. I would give them a solid 7/10. They had homemade hot sauces, that of course I needed to try. They were packed with levels of flavor and heat. So an all-around win. And of course I also had to order the chicharrones! It was the biggest plate I had ever seen in an order! They were perfectly crunchy yet super light. They had a slight seasoning, with a chipotle crema drizzle. Topped off with some lime juice they were the perfect bar bite that went well with drinking! They get a 9/10. Click here to see more of Electric Circus’ offerings.

Tips/Recommendations: This is a must stop, especially if you are with a group of people. The beer and drinks were a hit, so even if you just stop for a drink. Play a game or two. I do think the taco place is worth a try as well. The chicharrónes were my favorite. And as always, try something new every time you go!
