Joey Chops Take Two (Malvern, PA)

Joey Chops was so impressive the first time around, I was excited to go back. I kept saying I would make it back to happy hour to give it more of a try but I never did until now… the only mistake was doing happy hour before the dinner reservation. But looking back, it really wasn’t a mistake because being able to have left overs and relive the meal is truly one of my favorites. Especially when the meal is this good! Happy Hour: They have a variety of bites and last time we only tried the wagyu slider and lamp chop. So, this time around I was determined to try more. We had to start with drinks and I tried the pineapple martini. It is made with their homemade pineapple vodka and it gets a 10/10. I wanted to order another but they were all out so I went with the strawberry lemon drop because it was so good last time! The happy hour bites were ordered in stages, and they were so good! First up were oysters and the tuna skewers. Oysters were fresh and salty! The tuna was perfectly tender with a charred sear to give just enough to give that fresh grill flavor! I would order both again! Next round was the crispy salmon bites and the steak skewers.  I loved the crispy fried rice topped with the salmon. Gave a sushi and bar food vibe all at the same time. I was shocked our tender the steak bites were. They were cooked to complete perfection and I could have eaten those all night! Another round of bites, that I would order again. The third and final round of happy hour was the crab devil eggs, cocktail shrimps and the surprise lamp chops. I forgot how good the lamp chop is. Honestly I think anything they have on their grill is a must order. It is always so flavorful, tender and delicious. But it was the crab devil eggs that stole the show this round. It was the perfect balance or crab and egg. You did not get one over the other. They mixed the fresh crab in the yoke filling so well that you had both in every bite. Once again, something I would order again. You cannot go wrong with any of them.

You’re probably wondering how did you have dinner still. You’re right, happy hour alone could be a dinner, but why stop there. This time around I order the bone in ribeye. Since I had so many bites during happy hour and they brought over their fresh bread as well, I only ordered the creamed spinach as the side. My steak was huge and as to no surprise- perfectly cooked. I clearly had leftovers, which I love because you get to relive the meal and still not over cook the steak! I would order both again – highly recommend!

Since it was birthday celebrations – dessert was necessary. And why not the cheesecake cart where they crème brulee your slice right at the time. You read that correctly. A crystalize slice of NY cheesecakes topped with fresh berries and chocolate was the perfect way to end an amazing meal. I recommend everything and honestly you should go and try them. And as always, try something new every time you go!
