Mushroom Fest (Kennet Square, PA)

Mushroom Fest is one of my favorite times of year, especially as a mushroom lover! Believe it or not, we have tried a few new items this year, and of course had to go back for the classic favorites!

La Tavola: We stopped back at La Tavola first for their mushroom soup. It is one of my faves as it is a good balance creamy and mushroom in every bit. I wish the mushroom pieces were bigger. However, it is still very mushroom forward for how smooth it is. I still want to come back and have dinner in the restaurant to give it a full try! One of these days I will make it back out!

Grain: Another spot I would like to sit down and give it a full try (especially their roof top or brunch)! They were one of the few stands that offered beer and drinks, but of course I had to look at the food offerings too! They had crab mushroom ragoons that were phenomenal! Perfectly crispy, we a creamy filling, yet still mushroom forward. They were served with a house made sweet chili dipping sauce. It was the perfect pairing for the perfect bite. They get a 12/10 and they were my favorite bite of the day! I should have went back for more – because there were none left over to save LOL.

Next stop I was terrible and forgot to take a picture of the food truck. Additionally, this was an item that I packed in my to go containers for later. It was mushroom gumbo was delicious made and mushroom forward.

You know I had to stop at JD’s Maple Bacon for bacon on a stick. When there is pork belly – it is a must get for me! No excuses. I loved it so much that I went back for more! First I ordered the Chinese BBQ flavor. It was a bit sweet with a bit of heat. Overall the star was the pork belly! Perfectly crispy yet tender and fatty all at the same time. When we passed again, I had to stop for more. Second time around I ordered the truffle flavor. Which is so fitting for mushroom fest. It was 10x better and it didn’t last long at all! Additionally they had a bratwurst sandwich that was topped with cheese, mushrooms and bacon. I saw several people get it and I had to as well. This one was wrapped and saved for later. It was a bomb ass sandwich and now I want to make bratwurst with fun toppings all the time!

You eventually start to get full. But this is why you bring containers to enjoy the yummy bites again that weekend. So to fill up the last of the containers and have more mushroom bites later, La Verona was the stop! The mushroom risotto and vodka tortellini were ordered. As many other Italian restaurants, these pasta bites were perfectly cooked and flavorful. Basically another place I need to come back and have a meal at!

Not picture were the hand pies that I took to go from Nomadic Pies. I bought one street corn and one spinach and mushroom. The street corn had a surprising spicy zing to it. But I enjoyed the spinach and mushroom better! They reheated in the air fryer so well! So, I will need to remember that for the future, hand pies make a great to go/left over option!

As always, the mushroom fest never disappoints! I highly recommend going if you are a mushroom lover. But also, Kennet is just a great town to check out in general. There are plenty of non-mushroom options for those that do not like them. Kennet will not disappoint!
