Casa Herrera (Thorndale, PA)

Coworkers have said how much they have enjoyed the food at Casa Herrera and now I hvave been back several times. It is one of my favorites because IT. DOES. NOT. DISAPPOINT!

Ambiance/Atmosphere: It gives you that rustic Mexican vibe inside; bright colors with the “clay” building look décor. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. It gives you that feeling of being in someone’s home or at home with family and friends!

Drinks: My first time there, I knew I wanted to order a margarita of some sorts. But I didn’t realize how many different options I would have lol. I saw that they had a flight option that was one original, one strawberry and one mango. So, I thought, I would go that route to be able to sample a variety. What I didn’t realize that they would come out as full sized; what I would consider full size, but I later found out were their mini size. All flavors were good. The mango was the perfect balance of sweet, tart and tequila. However, the strawberry was too sweet for me; especially eating with food. They have seasonal flavors that I may try next time. Or I will just stick with the original as you cannot go wrong, and it is the best to pair with food!

Menu: Like the drink menu, the food menu had lots of options! I wasn’t sure where to start to even narrow down the options. When they start you off with house made chips and salsa, it really gets you in the mood for something delicious. We decided to order the ribeye guacamole. I would hands down order this every single time I go. The gauc was so fresh but then topped with the crispy yet fatty chunks of beef sent every bite just over the top. The beef fat and guac created such a delicious combination, it’s hard to describe. You will just have to try it for yourself.

Since beef was order already, I decided I wanted my protein to be pork. I went back and forth on a few items, but decided to order the carnitas chimichanga. Again, this did not disappoint and I would definitely order it again! It was perfectly fried that I could use my hands to eat it. The cheese poured out and the cheese dipping sauce added more fun bites! I loved that the refried beans and Mexican rice tasted fresh and homemade. You could tell the simple dishes were made with some love and didn’t just come from a can or prepacked food. They were the perfect side to complete the meal! I can also say they birria tacos are so fire!! As well as the steak platter with the tomatillo sauce! Click here to see more of their menu and here for the full reel of yummy pictures!

Tips/Recommendations: GO; it’s a must try place. If you aren’t driving and love margaritas, order the flight. I later found out that you can share the flight with others, that can be a good option too LOL. I think the steak guacamole is another must order! But I don’t think you can go wrong with any of their items! Our waitress did tell us that the “mini” margaritas are only $4 during the week before 4pm, in case you need to plan accordingly. Tuesdays is taco night! But again, I think you can go any time and not be disappointed. And as always, try something new every time you go.
