IYKYK I love mushrooms. Always have and they have always been my favorite pizza topping too! I love stopping at the Asian market to get a variety of mushrooms and then find new ways to cook them. TOC on the food network usually inspires me!
This time I bought a big pack of oyster mushrooms. We opted to make a deep fried oyster mushroom. To make it quick and easy, I used a tempura batter. It created a light batter and crisped up very nicely in the deep fryer. The only con, was that it made more of a mess in the deep fryer than I wanted lol. I think this is a definite repeat recipe. It was mushroom forward, but I think you could do more of a season buttermilk batter for a fried chicken feel as well as give some more flavor. We also talked about doing almost a fish fry where you use it for a po boy too! I think the options are endless. Mushrooms are great meat substitutes, so stay tuned for more recipes to come!
