Killing some time before work meeting means happy hours are necessary. This time around we tried VK to try somewhere new and because of the location.
Ambiance/Atmosphere: Formally the Ship Inn, VK has been opened for several years. This is the first time I have been in the building. It was bright and open, yet kept that historical house feel inside. I sat at the bar, which was a nice U shape, not too large. The bartender was nice, but I think the regulars around the bar were more talkative LOL. For a weeknight, it was quiet with a steady flow of people starting to come in. I think this is a good happy hour spot or a dinner spot with friends, family or date night.
Drinks: It was wine Wednesday, so I had a class of pinot grigio. Nothing special but it was delicious. They offer a full bar service, with seasonal drinks and even mocktails! They do have their own beer, but this time around, I did not try it.

Menu: They have a full menu, Italian inspired, but they do have some variety. Given it was happy hour, I decided to stick with those options, so it was so overwhelming LOL. It was buck-a-shuck night and after seeing the couple next to me have them, I decided it was worth a try. They only information they had on it was it was from the Atlantic coast, so it was risky. But they were refreshing and paired well with the white wine! I also ordered the fried green tomatoes. These were very delicious, a 8.5/10. Lightly bread and very crispy. I enjoyed the balsamic and pesto sauces. They balanced well with the green tomato and the creamy burrata on top! I would order these again and also made me want to try more of their Italian dishes next time!
Tips/Recommendations: Give it a try. I think happy hour is a good gage of if you want to go back or not. I do want to try more of the food and have dinner, but I am also not in a rush to go back. Overall, I say it is worth a try. And as always, try something new every time you go.
