Speckled Hen (Strasburg, PA)

Love when you get to put gatherings together and try new places, like the Speckled Hen!

Ambiance/Atmosphere: This cute café is in Strasburg right outside town before the railroad. I have past it several times and was excited to give it a try! It’s café style where you order at the counter and they give you a number for the table. There a display case of goodies and grab and go options! Staff are friendly and helpful in making any suggestions. It’s a good stop for the whole family or on the go!

Drinks: As most cafes, they have a variety of coffees and teas. But they also offer beer (Bespoke Brewer) and an array of cocktails. A girls brunch called for fun sips indeed. They had a mimosa flight, so I had to go with that. I will say it wasn’t what I expected. Overall, I think I would give it a 5/10 and I probably wouldn’t order it again. They were bigger classes than I expected, and it wasn’t the fun champagne flute I had envisioned. There were 4 flavors: OJ, pineapple, cranberry and lavender lemon. The OJ was good as you would figure. The pineapple was interesting, not the pineapple flavor I was anticipating, as it was very mild and didn’t really give me the pineapple vibe. The cranberry was even more mild. You really didn’t taste cranberry at all. The lavender was my favorite, it was light, refreshing and calming all at the same time. I am glad I decided to try the flight. But as I said, I don’t think I will order it again. I think I will go with just one of the cocktail choices or a coffee!

Menu: I did take a peep at the menu prior to going. They had a quite a few good options, but nothing overwhelming. After taking my cousin’s recommendation, I ordered the spicy breakfast BLT on a croissant. The bacon was crispy, but pork loving me wished there were a few more pieces LOL. Overall, the sandwich was delicious. It gets a 7.5/10. The spicy aioli was the perfect kick for the sandwich! However, I personally liked my croissant sandwich for Coffee Co better. I think next time, I will try something new. Click here to see the full menu.

Tips/Recommendations: Definitely give it a try, even just for coffee. I like that they have a grab and go option if you pinched for time. I don’t recommend the mimosa flight. But I do think a cocktail would be a fun drink. And as always, try something new every time you go.
