Birthday dinners always mean new spots to try. This past birthday I wanted Asian, specifically sushi. But also, I needed a place with noodles because #longlife! I stumbled across Hiramasa while scrolling reels on Instagram so of course I had to try it out and it did not disappoint! Click here for my highlight reel!
Ambiance/Atmosphere: This restaurant may be located in a strip mall/shopping center, but it is modern and very chic on the inside. It gives the modern Zen garden vibe. Our table was right by the bar and front window; a bit secluded but still gave you that perfect people watching position. It makes for a great date night setting or even a dinner with friends! The staff were amazing! They were very personable, with several managers coming to check on orders/make corrections etc. Our server was very tentative and patient because when it comes to sushi, you keep a menu and order by rounds.
Drinks: I had margaritas at the movie theater earlier in the day, so I decided to stick with tequila. I ordered the blue margarita, and it transported me to the beach. It was the perfect tropical sip, and I mean sip because it was strong. It was delicious and I would recommend it to all, especially the margarita lovers!
Menu: I studied the menu a bit and only decided on my birthday noodles and some sushi. But I knew it would be a multiple round night! They served complimentary edamame that was the perfect starter bite. They were fresh and lightly seasoned. I also love that they gave you wet towels to wipe your hands off when you were done eating them! To start, we ordered the oyster de-you. The presentation alone gets a 15/10! It was a show of dry ice and aromatics! The Japanese oysters were fresh, salty and very sea forward. They were delicious and I probably could have eaten 4 more orders of them LOL. The noodles I selected was the beef drunken noodle. They had a great Unami flavor and the beef was tender and melted in your mouth. The wide rice noodles are one of my favorite. I enjoyed a few bites, but then save the rest to take home and they made for a great lunch later!
For sushi we started with nigiri (with rice) of scallop and yellow tail. Then sashimi (no rice) of salmon belly. But they accidentally gave us the salmon belly as a nigiri. But we were not upset as we got to enjoy extra bites of the belly and it was my favorite! For the specialty roll we ordered the Godzilla roll. It was another fun and flavorful bite! The last round of sushi was eel, fluke and Hamachi belly nigiris. I love ordering the sashimi just for fish, but the nigiri helps to fill you up and helps so the bill isn’t too much LOL. All the fish was fresh, and served to perfection. I probably could taste everything on their menu and not have one single compliant or item I didn’t like LOL. Click here to check it out yourself!
Tips/Recommendations: GO, NOW! Order in stages and share all the bites! If you are a lover of oysters, they are must try! If sushi is not you choice, they have plenty of other options, as the drunken noodles were so tasty. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of their options. Make a reservation as they were very busy by the time we left and the bar was full. And as always, try something new every time you go.
