Battlefield Brew Works (Gettysburg, PA)

Still catching up on all the fun fall things, so thanks for coming along for the ride! I love when you can go back to the same towns, but you get to try new places. This time around in Gettysburg, we found and tried Battlefield Brew Works.

Ambiance/Atmosphere: This spot is tuck outside of town, and you probably wouldn’t stumble upon it unless you know it’s there. The fun part about it is, it’s an old barn that was a confederate hospital during the civil war. It was an old barn that almost gave like a basement bar feel. It wasn’t fancy but it was homey. Staff were friendly and you could see they wanted to create a welcoming/homey atmosphere. They even have several TVs if you are looking to watch games. We were there during college football Saturday, so there were several games playing.

Drinks: Given the name, they are a distillery and do make their own liquors. They no longer make their own beer, but they have a lot to offer. They have both drafts, can and bottler beers as well as wine. Since they specialized in spirits, I opted to order some cocktails starting with the uncle Paul’s whiskey sour and then the Mary Monfort. Both were delicious but very strong. I enjoyed the bit of bubbles from their homemade ginger ale. It made them refreshing, but a good slow sipper as they were strong.

Menu: They do have a menu of bites and entrees. They also have daily specials. We had just come from Four Score eating some nachos (highly recommend those), so I was not looking to order food. But if you know me, I need snacks with my drinks LOL. So I order some mozzarella sticks. There was nothing special about them. But they were very crispy, but very cheesy with a great cheese pull. So they became the perfect bar bite to enjoy! Click here to see the full menu.

Tips/Recommendations: If you are into historical buildings or fun civil war facts, it is a good stop. But the food and drinks aren’t amazing, so I wouldn’t recommend it if that’s what you are looking for. It is a fun stop and worth a drink or two! I think to give it a true test, you need to order one of their cocktails or buy one of their bottles of spirits to go! But as always, try something new every time you go!
