America’s oldest brewery – if you haven’t checked it out, it’s definitely worth a little adventure. Click here for a fun little preview!
Atmosphere/Experience: I actually have been here and taken the tour more times as a child (not of drinking age) then I have since turning the drinking age lol. So, I would say it is a fun family adventure too! This past time, was the first time I have taken the tour since some of their remodeling etc. They have a great gift shop across the street and that is where you start your tour. The tour is free and runs about every 30 minutes or so. It a fun inside look at American’s first brewery and some of the history. I don’t want to give too much away, because I think you should experience it for yourself. It ends back over at the gift shop in the bar that was once their ice cream shop.
Drinks: The tour ends, with two samples. They offer birch beer for the kiddos and surprisingly had lots of options for sampling. After your two samples you could purchase more if you wish! I opted to try two I haven’t had before. First the Bongo Fizz, which was a light, mango flavored beer. Second was their citrus beer that you can’t find in stores. It was delicious, and I think the perfect summer/beach beer option. They didn’t have it available by cans or bottles, but you could have purchase it by growlers, which I probably should have, because now I can’t find it anywhere LOL.
Tips/Recommendations: Check their tour hours before you go because they can vary based on the time of year. Saturdays are busier, so try to get to the earlier times. If you go during the week, you can see the brewery in action! Make sure you try something you haven’t had before!
