Springtime and sunny weather call for new food spots with a view: The Hungry Pilot delivers!
Ambiance/Atmosphere: Located at the GO Carlson Airport in Coatesville – it’s a great spot to have lunch and watch the planes take off. The restaurant has full windows that face out to the runway. Inside they have tables, high tops, and a nice U-shaped bar. They have several TVs for you to watch the game, so it gives a great sports bar vibe. But keeps the family friendly atmosphere as you can take the family for lunch to watch the planes. Staff are very friendly and keep a “one big family” feel.
Drinks: They have full bar menu, beer (both draft and bottles) and fun cocktails and wine. It was National Beer day, so I had to order a beer. The Hungry Pilot Lager was on draft, and I felt like I should taste the namesake! It was refreshing and paired well with food. It was good for a sunny day, but I probably would order or try a cocktail instead next time!

Menu: They do not have a large menu, but a great selection of bar bites, sandwiches, and some entrees. They had several mushroom items on the menu. If you know me, I love mushrooms. They are one of my favorite and being so close to Kennett, I try to order all the mushrooms when they are locally brought in! That being said, to start I had to order the creamy mushroom bisque. I only ordered a cup to sample, and next time will definitely be a full bowl. It was delicious, creamy and buttery with fresh mushrooms! For lunch, I ordered the prime dip grilled cheese. This sandwich was packed full of meat! Without a dip, I thought it would be dry. But it surprisingly wasn’t! The meat was still juicy with American cheese between two perfectly crispy sourdough slices. They came with a heaping pike of shoestring fries. Usually I am not a fan of the skinny fry, but these were fried perfectly. Crispy but still soft and chewy on the inside. The plate was big and enough to have leftovers the next day! I think next time around I want to try one of their burgers, probably the one with mushrooms! Click here for the full menu!

Tips/Recommendations: I think it is worth a try, especially on a beautiful sunny day. The Phillies were playing while we were there and they had a $1 hot dog special so check out their social media for events and specials. If you love mushrooms, definitely order the bisque. And as always, try something new every time you go!
