Cork and Candles

Need a new/fun date night or girls night activity? Then Cork and Candles is for you! They offer a few different options based on your party size as well some special events. The basic candle making is $60 per person and you get make 2 candles each!

Ambiance/Atmosphere: The KOP location is in the town center. It open and welcoming with  small store front, a separate room for larger parties etc. The staff are so friendly, patient that creates the perfect vibe. Tables are set up for each chandler (candle maker). There is a separate wall, the scent bar, for you to select your essential oils/scents.

Experience: Cork in the name comes from the fact that they are BYOB. They also offer charcuterie boards and flatbreads! Though, did not partake in this portion (surprisingly lol), it is an awesome option! You will put your food order in prior to starting the candles. It will be ready for you to enjoy while you candles are curing. Staff take you through some of the scent options and how they are organized. You can pick up to two different scents per candle. Staff suggest how to smell both and get the vibe of what your candle will smell like. Each scent has a description of notes as well as recommendations of combinations. I love that we had time to smell and find the combinations that speak to you the most. You get a card to fill out and then you can select your vessel from several color options. On the card you even get to come up with your candle name – it was a complete experience. Staff then take you through the creation process including how to measure out your oils, the importance of not having two much so your candles do not “sweat” as well as handling the hot wax with care. You receive a QR code to sign up for candle care updates as well. Candles have to sit for a certain number of days so that your oils molecularly bond with the wax again to prevent the sweating. It was fascinating and interesting to learn about the art of being a chandler! After making the candles, during your waiting period you can enjoy your food or drink if you choose, or you can shop around the store. They also offer that you can go to one of the many neighboring restaurants or businesses if you want to come back. Your options are endless! They pack up your candles so nicely for you to carry out. Overall it was such a fun experience that I would do again!

Tips/Recommendations: Book your appointment ahead of time on line. Reservations are strongly encouraged. You pay for the final experience before you leave, but the reservation holds your spot. I went during the week on a late afternoon. They were not busy at all and it was almost like a private experience. Weekends tend to be busy and book faster, so keep that in mind! Seasonal scents are offered; again something to keep in mind for when you make your reservation. They also offer gift cards that can be purchased online or in person. And as always, try something new every time you go!
