Let me set the scene: The over planner in me looks for the best breakfast spots in Kennett Square to eat before the mushroom festival. While researching, I didn’t want a big and filling breakfast, but one with decent options, good food/reviews and good coffee. I decided on Evergreen Café. Their pictures on Instagram were a big selling point. Now the plan was to park at the Kennett High School, walk to Evergreen and then walk to the mushroom festival . What I didn’t do was look at location or distance. So a 20-30minute walk from the car to breakfast was not ideal whatsoever; especially on a warm and muggy day. However, it put us at the perfect position of the start of the mushroom festival to finish and then walk back to the car. So basically my over planning self, planned it perfectly without even planning it LOL. Anyways, let’s highlight Evergreen and breakfast first!
Ambiance/Atmosphere: This cute spot, is small. Only about 5-6 tables. But it creates for an family style and intimate atmosphere! This is an order at the counter and sit at your table café. The staff are very friendly with great recommendations. It gives the small town café vibe!
Drinks: They awful a variety or coffees, smoothies, shakes, juices etc. They also have seasonal flavor options as well. Since it was a warm day, ice mocha was necessary! It was the perfect size, chocolatey yet refreshing combination. I imagine all their coffee drinks are delicious!

Menu: They have a wide variety of options that sounded so delicious, but then of course a list of specials. Since it was the mushroom festival weekend – mushrooms were on the special list and they had to be ordered. Again, not wanting to fill up too much the mushroom quesadilla was ordered. The English muffin sandwich sounds so good – but after seeing it, it was too massive! The quesadilla was the perfect blend and balance of lots of mushrooms, a hint of chorizo with sour cream and pico on the side. The cheese blend was cheesy but not over powering the mushrooms at all. So it was the perfect bite to start off the day!
Tips/Recommendations: All the tables were filled while we were there, so try to plan accordingly. It does sit right outside town, so it is not busy, but they have steady to-go orders as well. So look into that option. Check out their Instagram if you have a hard time deciding like me. I recommend getting the specials while they’re an option. And as always, try something new every time you go!
