El Tule (Lambertville, NJ)

Exploring new cities/locations means you explore new places to eat as well as cuisine! El Tule fits right in as a new place offering Mexican and Peruvian cuisine!

Ambiance/Atmosphere: It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon so sitting outside on the patio was the way to go. It was a cute enclosed patio with tables, umbrellas, lights with vibrant colors. Staff were so friendly, welcoming and gave great recommendations. It was the awkward afternoon time between lunch and dinner. But it was perfect as it wasn’t crowded at all!

Drinks: They do not have alcoholic beverages, but they are BYOB. I decided for a sunny afternoon, a Jamaica water, made with hibiscus flowers. It was refreshing with a bit of sweetness!

Menu: They started you off with some chips and salsa variety. Homemade chips that were perfectly salty pair with salsas that had some kick and others that did not! The waiter recommended trying ceviche to start, so the chifa was ordered. It is influenced by Chinese food with peanuts, peanut soy sauce and crispy wonton strips. The fish was so fresh and smooth. It was a great combination of flavors and gets a 9/10. It was even delicious left over, a bit soggier but the taste was still bold and delicious! Entrée orders were specials on the menu. Not offered now, but still worth an order if they are offered again. With white rice, a seafood medley of shrimp and squid in a tomato based sauce. Second was mahi mahi served over tacu tacu. Which is a Peruvian rice and bean blend that is fried. So it was a delicious base for the mahi mahi. The outside was crispy but the inside was still soft and flavorful. It was my first time having Peruvian food, and I cannot wait to try more! Click here to see the current menu offerings.

Tips/Recommendations: Sitting on the patio on a warm afternoon was a great experience and I high recommend! I was there during the in between time of lunch and dinner. It was quiet, not busy and very enjoyable. Service and staff were amazing and quick! Highly recommend trying any of their specials before they are no longer offered. The waiter said they are known for the ceviche and he was right. It was AMAZING and I would recommend you order any one of them. And as always, try something new every time you go!
